Who is 9Books for?
Small service businesses that bill clients for their work: consultancies, studios, agencies and freelancers with ongoing clients or retainers.

Workflow and billing
How does GST/HST work on 9Books invoices?
Each invoice carries its own GST/HST rate, set from the client’s tax settings. 9Books shows the tax separately from the subtotal, in the editor and on the PDF.
How do I bill a retainer client in 9Books?
Set a monthly, quarterly or annual billing cycle for the client, with its billing day and rate. If you choose, 9Books prepares a draft invoice on the billing day for you to review and send.
Billing and payments
Does 9Books process payments?
No. 9Books doesn’t take or move money. You get paid the way you do today, then record full or partial payments in 9Books.
Can I invoice in currencies other than CAD?
Yes. Each client has a billing currency, CAD by default, with common currencies such as USD, EUR and GBP. That client’s invoices and payments stay in that currency.
Beta
When does 9Books launch, and how do I join the beta?
9Books is releasing in January 2027. Request access on the Beta page with your name, work email and company. Requesting access and receiving an account are separate steps.
